Shaanti Hits Southbank Alchemy Festival 2016!
Saturday 28 May 2016, 7.00pm – 11.00pm
Championing 20 Years of the best of British-Asian club culture! Get on down to 90s ragga, hip-hop, rare groove, R&B, drum and bass and Eastern breaks.
After the explosion of daytime Bhangra gigs in the 1990s, a brand new generation of promoters led the way and shifted the balance of power in music.
Sharnita K Athwal and Manga from Shaanti, Mitsy Hustle from Hustlers Convention and H-Bomb were among the many instigators and innovators on the scene. They reunite for Alchemy 2016.
This crack team has hosted some of the biggest raves in club history at London’s Wag Club, Hanover Grand, Ministry of Sound. They’ve held monthly underground warehouse parties across eleven consecutive years at The Medicine Bar in Birmingham and satisfied ravers at Cargo and Fabric.
Shaanti takes you back in time to celebrate a legacy that deserves to have its volume pumped up.
Plus, enjoy live performances from special guests including Ritz MC (Englistan Mixtape), Farook Shamsher from Joi Bangla Sound System, Double Trouble (MJ), Ministry of Dhol and ADF 20! Exhibition.
