Produced by the Multi Award Winning Shaanti, in partnership with Taste and Liquor, the Holi Rave Festival is also known as the festival of colours. Holi is traditionally celebrated on the full moon day in the month of Phalgun (March) and festivities spread across the globe. However this being a tradition day, mainly spend with family, the oragnisers have decided to push the celebration back, so all can attend. The festival signifies the Hindu victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter, and for many, a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair broken relationships, and is also celebrated as a thanksgiving for a good harvest in the Punjabi community.
This year families are invited with their little ones to attend a daytime show from 2pm – 6pm, then from 6pm – 11.00pm the arches will be transformed into a festival rave and the sound-system will be turned up in full effect, taking the party to the next level. This year’s plans will feature plenty of Colour Powder Explosions, Top DJ’s, bonkers games-shows like Bhangra Bingo and Play Your Uncle Ji’s Cards Right, banging Dhol Drummers, as well as 80s Retro Films Screenings, Daytime Fun for Family and Kids, Digital Street Art Exhibitions, Face-Painting, Glitter-Bombs, Dance Competition’s and much, much more.
Food is another part of the festival, so they have brought in the Birmingham’s hottest street-food event -producers Taste and Liquor, to create a delicious street-food zone. Taste and Liquor will incorporate globally inspired flavors into dishes offering both Indian and international flavor fusions to the festival line-up!
Combining their love for arts, modern culture, music and cultural traditions celebrating heritage for the community, the Holi Rave Festival gives the region a great opportunity to celebrate a long-lived festivity, bringing in the brightness to the diverse residents of West Midlands and beyond. Holi Rave is a symbol of pleasure and art, unexpected contrasts in an unique atmosphere.
