Foodies and gardeners will unite when Birmingham Botanical Gardens cooks up a storm to celebrate its 183th anniversary.

A free Heritage Open Day will welcome visitors to explore the attraction’s Victorian glasshouses and vast grounds, and introduce Harborne Food School, as it hosts a car boot vegetables sale, preserves workshops and food demonstrations.

Heritage Open Days is a leading heritage festival that celebrates history, architecture and culture throughout the UK with free events. Birmingham Botanical Gardens will open its doors for free to the public Sunday 13 September. Once guests have worked up an appetite by taking a tour of the varied attractions, they’ll be able to pick up home grown vegetables at the car boot sale.

Leading preserves and baking expert Vivien Lloyd will demonstrate how to prepare stone fruit jam and chilli jam to give visitors some inspiration with how to prepare their freshly picked produce.

Meanwhile Taste and Liquor will be delivering some of the worlds mouth-watering dishes from around the globe, the Taste & Liquor team have hunted high-and-low to introduce new and exiting flavours to the menu. Presenting street food pioneers of the future, dishes on offer will promote a number of delicious sweet and savoury flavours from around the world such as Cuba, New Orleans, Indian, Persian, and of course some British favourites.

Taste & Liquor will also be presenting a market with a difference, with something new and unique for all ages and taste. Handpicked stalls will present exciting treats and goodies in all shapes and forms such as Vintage clothing and Vintage home accessories. Indulge in some treats for the home with a wonderful selection of Artisan Cakes and Desserts.

The Great British Tea Party and Heritage Open Day at Birmingham Botanical Gardens is a free event from 11am – 3pm on Sunday 13 September. The vegetable car boot sale will take place in the on-site car park from 9am – 11am.

Birmingham Botanical Gardens is a 15 acre botanical gardens and educational charity situated in the heart of Edgbaston, Birmingham. As well as hosting family-friendly, music and fundraising events, the family-friendly attraction has four glasshouses, an Avery, wildlife trails and a seasonal butterfly house.
