Shortlisted for a Royal Society Television Award in Entertainment and The Midland Media Award (Finalist, Entertainment Category), Shaanti.TV www.shaanti.tv was an innovative project that provided opportunities to young people to gain experience, knowledge, and understanding of themselves, each other and the environment, while volunteering in the Eastern Electronic Festival 2014.
Shaanti TV played a critical role in the production of new teaching materials as well as the introduction of new communication technologies, in particular the development of digital technologies for education in resource-poor environments.
One of the key aims was to work with local partners to build a clear and structured pathway into the creative and cultural sector for young people.
In partnership with University of Derby, Shaanti TV helped young adults build capacity in the local creative sector, giving young people much needed employment opportunities. The initiative is linked to the development of British Asian filmmakers and producers, was aimed at the wider arts activities for young people.
Shaanti TV was produced on strict deadlines to plan, deliver and present six TV music show’s alongside skill-based training from mentors who’s CV’s ranged for working with the BBC, ITV, teachers from the University of Derby and Independent British Asian Directors.
